Uma análise da representação lésbica nas cinco produções cinematográficas de maior bilheteria mundial

Abstract

This research project addresses the representations of lesbian identities and relationships in world cinema, discussing the presence of stereotypes and the lack of representation involved in this visibility, with the aim of understanding the way these images are portrayed and their impact on society. To support the discussion, the theoretical framework covers studies by Butler (2003), A. Rich (2012), Navarro-Swain (2004), Mulvey (1975) and Hall (2000). The study is justified by the lack of diversity of bodies and narratives in the media, which reinforces stigmas, reproduces cis-heteronormative norms and generates misunderstanding on the part of society and difficulty in identifying the LGBTQIA+ public. A methodology of descriptive exploratory design is chosen here, defining as a corpus the five highest-grossing lesbian films in the world, they are: The Favorite, Carol, Mulholland Drive, Blue is the Warmest Color and Portrait of a Young Woman on Fire. The material is investigated through content analysis taking as a unit six issues through which we analyze the presence/absence in the cinematographic productions that make up the corpus.
