A gestão de saúde e segurança no trabalho em tempos de pandemia de Covid-19

Abstract

Occupational Health and Safety is a need to be developed in all work environments, which aims to guarantee the physical and mental integrity of workers. This work aims to understand the perception of a public administrator about health and safety at work in times of COVID19 pandemic. In this sense, we sought to understand the activities of this professional within a public Emergency Care Unit and understand the management of health and safety at work there employed in its staff to face the global pandemic. To go deeper into this subject, there was a need for an exploratory research of a qualitative nature, which, in addition to a broad bibliographic study, made use of a semi-structured interview applied to collect field data. These data were divided into three parts and categorized for a better analysis of these contents. The first category of analysis was the work of the administrator at the Health Unit, the second was based on public management and health and safety at work, and the third category was concerned with knowing how to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. After processing these data, it was concluded that in this universe studied, the administrator's vision is still not enough for a safe management in OSH in general. What contributes to this happening and reaching this conclusion, is motivated by the legal and regulatory omission on this subject in the public statutory regime, and this requires the administrator to be more concerned in ensuring the physical and mental integrity of the servers in the area of health, especially in difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic.
