O acervo do Memorial da Cultura e do Legislativo Potiguar da Assembleia Legislativa do Rio Grande do Norte sob uma perspectiva histórica

Abstract

This research presents as a theme a historical perspective of the politics of Rio Grande do Norte through the collection of the Memorial of Culture and the Legislative Potiguar. The general objective seeks to identify the historical landmarks of the Legislative Power of the state of Rio Grande do Norte represented in the Memorial from the collection that composes it. In its specific objectives, it seeks to demonstrate the importance of memorials as places for the historical recovery of social memory, as well as to identify which objects and documents contained in the Memorial represent an important historical symbology for the political memory of Potiguar and to identify, chronologically, which historical political moments of the Legislative from Rio Grande do Norte are represented through the Memorial collection. It questions whether it is possible to delimit a historical context of the politics of Rio Grande do Norte through the collection of the Memorial of Culture and the Legislative Potiguar. It uses as a methodology a bibliographic incursion for the elaboration of an exploratory and descriptive study, performs a case study at the Memorial of Culture and the Legislative Potiguar and applies the qualitative method through the application of structured interviews with the curator and the historian of the unit. It presents as results a historical rescue through the descriptions of the items indicated by the interviewed professionals, as a way to provide a historical context existing in the materials of the analyzed collection. It concludes that research is relevant and pertinent for discussions about the preservation and conservation of the memory of the society of Rio Grande do Sul, focusing on the need to elaborate more scientific studies in the area with the premise of bringing up the importance of discussions that have this aspect.
