Análise Epistemológica sobre o Profissional Bibliotecário como sujeito social e Mediador da Informação Científica na Pós-Modernidade

Abstract

This Monograph theoretically studies the postmodern and emerging category in Librarianship and Information Science. It aims to analyze epistemologically in the area of Librarianship and Information Science from the conjuncture of postmodern society. It reflects on the postmodern subject, as well as the professional librarian of that period, which is not limited to static and paradigmatic definitions, and with that projects its importance as a pillar for the construction of contemporary society. The discussion is also based on the active profile that the librarian must have in the postmodern society, since the changes and transformations come from the subjects' experiences and perceptions, not only from the scientific scope. It also seeks to investigate the possible causes that make scientific knowledge not reach all layers of society. In this scenario, it becomes relevant to encourage initiatives developed by librarians for the dissemination and mediation of scientific content, free of charge, thanks to new information and communication technologies. As a methodology, a systematic literature review was used, and a content analysis based on Bardin (2011) was carried out. It results in a theoretical contribution that presents the role of the librarian in post-modernity along with the mediation of information, from the perspective of open access, bringing a conceptual map. It considers that it is important to think about the relationship between science and common sense in post-modernity, bringing scientific practice and society closer.
