(Research, Society and Development, 2020) Negrão, Oswaldo Gomes Corrêa; Viana, Jaiane Carmélia Monteiro; Cunha, Rayrane Iris Melo da; Lima, Beatriz Maria Falcão; Monteiro, Rosemary Araújo; Guerra, Eliana Costa; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3718-6991
Introduction: COVID-19 – a viral disease that has become a public health emergency – has SARS-CoV-2 as its etiological agent and is transmitted by droplets or aerosols from infected individuals. Due to the high rate of contamination by the virus and the limitations of the disease’s treatment, public and private institutions have been recommending the use of masks as a form of mass respiratory protection. Objective: to outline a broader overview of aspects related to the production, access, use and handling of homemade masks and to specify the time, form of use and recommendations for each type of professional mask. Methodology: For this purpose, an integrative literature review was carried out in PubMed, LILIACS, Web of Science, Scopus, Science Direct, The BMJ and LEXML’s databases, using various combinations of the main descriptors “masks”, “personal protective equipment” and “virus diseases”. Results: Among the main findings, the most effective protection of N95 and FFP2 respirators stand out, to the detriment of surgical masks. In addition, evidence shows efficient disinfection methods for respirators, such as the use of hydrogen peroxide and UV radiation, and the alternative of using handmade masks, inexpensive and easy to manufacture, for the general population, in face of individual protection equipment shortages. Conclusion: In the midst of a pandemic with a viral etiological agent, it is essential to study respiratory protection devices, differentiating them according to their particularities, in order to know the most suitable for individual and collective protection

The scope of this study was to assess the quality of Primary Health Care (PHC) provided to the elderly from their viewpoint. The study design was cross-sectional and observational in a stratified random sample of elderly individuals, enrolled in 10 of the 20 Basic Health Units (BHU) in the city of Macaiba, State of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. After an interview conducted using the adult version of the primary care assessment tool (PCATool-Brazil), the quality level was estimated (0-10, based on desirable attributes) and the association between demographic and socioeconomic factors was analyzed. The participants (n = 100) assigned a score of fair (5.7) to Quality; Longitudinality of care was awarded a high score (7.3), however Integrality (4.7), Family Orientation (4.1) and Accessibility (3.8) were considered weak. Socio-demographic factors linked to vulnerability (low income, rural area and older age) were positively associated with different PHC attributes. A margin for improvement in PHC attributes was observed, especially with respect to increasing the focus on the family, extending working hours in BHUs and enhancing prevention of diseases and ensuing complications

Objective: to understand the meanings attributed by puerperal mothers to the supply of breast milk associated with the use of infant formula without clinical and nutritional indication. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive, qualitative approach. There were 16 interviews. Data were collected through a questionnaire with objective questions related to socioeconomic data and questions about breastfeeding and artificial feeding. The answers were recorded in a digital recorder, transcribed in full and submitted to the categorical content analysis. Results:The final categories found were: external influence and own experience in the act of breastfeeding; valuation of the breastfeeding and infant formula as adjuvant. It was inferred from the statements that the proactive posture or insecurity in the present puerperium is influenced by the experience of the previous gestation. On benefits, child and maternal health were mentioned. The low orabsent production of breast milk was a justification to give artificial milk. Conclusions: It was verified the valorization of the act of breastfeeding reflecting in the disposition to the same, as well as the recognition of itsbenefits, however the idea of insufficient milk persists for some women. The appearance of possible difficulties, whether clinical or nutritional indication or not, leads to offer formula

Exclusive breastfeeding up to six months of age is the ideal food for infant nutrition with advantages to mother and child health, but breastfeeding rates are below that recommended by WHO. Policies, such as the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative, promote, among other actions, the training ofhealth professionals to adopt appropriate hospital procedures. To evaluate the knowledge and practices of health professionals in a Baby Friendly Hospital about breastfeeding is the objective of this study. It is a cross-sectional and quantitative study, carried out between January and October 2017, in a university hospital, in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The sample consisted of nurses, nursing technicians, nutritionists, physiotherapists, obstetricians and pediatricians, evaluated througha structured questionnaire. Most of the professionals had satisfactory knowledge about breastfeeding, however they differed on the theoretical and practical level. Nutritionists and physiotherapists stood out positively, with significant difference, strengthening the integrality of the assistance through a multiprofessional team. It is suggested to carry out training more frequently, in order to improve knowledge and work processes in the health service

Condição materna de adolescentes e impacto no peso do neonato
(Editora Verde, 2019) Melo, Larissa Grace Nogueira Serafim de; Borges, Eduarda de Moura; Medeiros, Luan Nogueira Bezerra de; Cavalcante, Andressa Vallery Setúbal de Oliveira Nunes
Due to possibles negative results on newborn's health potentially related to teenage pregnancy and importance of newborn weight as a determinant of maternal and child health, the present study aimed to characterize the socioeconomic and obstetric conditions of adolescent pregnant women, identifying factors associated with the impact on neonate's weight. A cross-sectional study with adolescents who have recently given birth (13 to 19 years old). Nutritional status of pregnant adolescents was studied using the body mass index and gestational weight gain; socioeconomic characteristics and its relation to the birth weight of the neonate. The analyzes were performed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), considering a value of p <0.05. In this work, 97 adolescents aged 18 ± 2.9 years were evaluated. The results were: IMC of eutrophy before and at the end of gestation, with a weight of 10.4±4.8 kg; newborns with a mean weight, cephalic perimeter, and age-appropriate length. Among socioeconomic variables, the marital status, prenatal consultations, previous pregnancies, and type of type of birth delivery presented significant associations with weight. However, there wasn't a statistical ratio to justify the increase of weight in the gestation period. The results attested the importance of anthropometry in the nutritional evaluation and necessity of standardization for this classification aimed at adolescent pregnant women, besides understanding pregnancy in adolescence as a complexity of risk factors, alsoevaluating socioeconomic and obstetric variables, that may be considered factors of risk in the anthropometric nutritional status and neonate's health

Ética em cuidados paliativos: concepções sobre o fim da vida
(FapUNIFESP (SciELO), 2014) Almeida Júnior, José Adailton de; Paiva, Fabianne Christine Lopes de; Damásio, Anne Christine
The purpose of this article is to highlight the importance of palliative care, as well as the practice of humanized care in the process of human terminality faced by patients who are out of a therapeutic possibility of cure. It was summarized the literature on concepts about such care, its historical trajectory of the Modern Hospice Movement, besides looking at death process and dying under the perspective of mourning phases, stimulating the reflection about bioethical dilemmas associated with aspects of human dignity. The narrative review undertaken emerges as a way to refer to gaps in the understanding of the subject, which requires a wider range of studies and research, especially given the importance of this knowledge for dignified care and a better quality of life for these patients. Regarding ethical issues, the challenge is to consider human dignity at the approach of death beyond the physical dimension of biological and medical perspective.
